FAQ
Absolutely nothing. It is not necessary to have any previous experience in any type of yoga, nor any information about it. In the Mysore-style classes that we teach, you will learn everything you need to know to practice at the school. You only have to come, we’ll do the rest.
It is a group class as well as personalized one. It is important to know that it is not a conventional led class, it is a class in which all students practice, each one at their own pace, a predefined sequence of postures adapted to their needs. During the initiation period, what we will do is to teach you a sequence that will later become your practice.
No, unfortunately we do not have trial classes for beginners. If you already are an Ashtanga practitioner and you already know the sequence, you can do a Drop-In or single class. If you are a beginner and you are not sure if you want to sign up, you can stop by any day during class hours to see how the studio works and decide if you want to join us. In order for your practice to be beneficial and the initiation period to be entertaining, we will ask you for a minimum commitment to attend.
Bring your own mat if you have it and a small towel. (If you don’t have a mat, we have a few to borrow during your first month only).
If you are traveling and you didn’t bring a mat with you, we can lend you during the days to come to practice.
Yes, we have an area to store our student’s mats properly identified, which is designated, as a priority, for people who get the Unlimited Bonus and come to practice on a daily basis.
The only MANDATORY requirement to leave your mat in the studio is to wash it thoroughly before bringing it in (sprays for mats are not enough) and to keep on washing it regularly, maintaining a proper hygiene of your mat.
When we practice we not only sweat, but our bodies deposit small particles on our mat every day, which over time generate odors. In addition, your mat is your personal temple, and it requires care, cleaning and neatness.
To properly wash your mat you must follow this recommendations.
1- First you must wet your mat with the shower head. Try not to submerge it so it doesn’t absorb too much water. This way it is easier to get it dry.
2- Once wet, scrub it with a soft damp cloth with a little neutral soap. Do not use a lot of soap so that rinsing is easy.
3- Once finished, rinse it with the shower head to remove the soap well.
4- To dry it, spread it on the floor and put a large towel on top. Then roll the mat tightly together with the towel so that the excess water is absorbed by the towel.
5- To finish, simply let it hang to dry in the air, preventing the sun from reaching it.
Optional:
If you dare, like some of us, you can skip steps 1, 2 and 3 and put the mat in the washing machine, with a little neutral soap, in a gentle wash cycle and WITHOUT spinning. Once the machine is finished, you can continue with steps 4 and 5.
You can click here to go to the section where we specify this information, but it is very important that you know that excluding the initiation bonus, all other bonuses are valid only from the 1st to the last day of each current month.
In short:
Drop-In or single class: €15 (only for students who already know the sequence and have a regular Ashtanga Yoga practice).

Unlimited bonus: €90
Initiation period: €90 (Duration 1 calendar month during which you can come as many times as you want with a minimum commitment of 2 classes per week).

Both in the morning and in the evening, the studio opens for 3 hours, you have freedom of arrival within a time range, with a time limit for entry. If you are in your initiation period, we’ll appreciate if you arrive as early as possible, since at the beginning of the class there are fewer students so we’ll be able to assist you better.
Morning:
You can arrive to practice anytime between 6:50 and 8:30
The shala will close promptly at 10:00
Evening:
You can arrive to practice anytime between 18:00 and 19:30
The shala will close promptly at 9:00 PM.
For various reasons, it is advisable not to practice for at least the first 2 days of your period, but the most important thing is that you learn to listen to your body and that you yourself decide whether or not to practice.
Unfortunately not. Our teaching is based on several pillars such as the development of discipline and the ability to commit. Therefore, to practice at our studio we request a commitment of minimum 2 classes per week. A once a week Ashtanga Yoga practice has no benefits at all.
During national and/or local holidays the shala will remain closed, as well as the days of Full Moon and New Moon since we do not do physical practice of Asanas during those days. You will have to keep an eye on the calendar to be aware of Moons and holidays each month to know when the studio is closed. This calendar is available on the previous link, also in our WhatsApp group and at the entrance door of the shala.
Ashtanga Yoga guided classes are advanced level classes, so normally at AYE we focus on Mysore-style teaching, however every now and the we do half first series, or first full series led classes. When this happens, we announce it in the schedule of each month or at our Instagram and whatsapp group.
It is highly recommended to practice on an empty stomach. The body appreciates, if possible, taking a hot shower just before coming to practice.
We don’t usually drink water during practice unless it’s strictly necessary.
Park your expectations aside, we are all different and each one of us has our own rhythms of learning and progress.
Don’t compare yourself to others, trust your own process.
No, we don’t have a shower but we do have a spacious bathroom where you can wash up after your practice.
Yes, we have a single multi-gender changing room, which means that we all share the same space. If for some reason you need more privacy when changing, you can use the bathroom.
